And, they are so tunable while remaining docile and efficient.

 There are normally aspirated LS engines making 600+ hp on pump gas yielding 26-28mpg with very small packaging.

The 550 being discussed probably lost 100 lbs of engine weight, doubled mpg and will require almost no maintenance.

Win-win vs sitting engine-less.

Which, really nothing has changed. Many decades ago when Ferraris would go for crap, people would pull out the motor and drop a SBC in it’s place.
