It was a nod to all of those “specials” these manufacturers produced way back when, when one could have a truly custom built car made for them. The V-8 Zagato series of the mid to late eighties were the last example of this. They were far from perfect, but they stood out, even amongst this rarified group of cars (like a “regular” Aston Martin is just so common-place). Love it or hate it (and most do), they’ve certainly and legitimately made their place in the exotic car echelon.

 

These modern-day versions were made to try to revive that. Although, it was pretty obvious they were trying to cash in on their history. Aston was doing well at this time, but money is money and if you can make any of it while you can... Ferrari, these days especially, is guilty of it. Big time.

 

I’m sure their day will come. What you’re seeing is what Erik described so aptly before. These cars are probably at their bottom of the depreciation curve. Certainly coincides with it’s age.
