Paul questions "Out of curiosity - What is / where is this 'sticky stuff'
?? ??Paint on a replacement??"
Paul - my guess is that the part is a true rubber of sorts - hard when it leaves the factory but exposed to ozone, the unstable oxygen strips the bonding sulfur molecules out of the mix and just leave a tacky latex. Cheap way to go in this day and age. As if a car manufacturer doesn't think the car will ever see sunshine? Man, this aint the 20s. Then again, I could be wrong
