If you don't want to do it until the spring, just consistently keep it on a
charger over the winter, and you'll be fine. It's actually not a huge PITA
to change the battery. Just jack the car, take off the wheel, unscrew a few
screws holding in the fender liner, and disconnect the battery and the
clamp. Really, about 20 minutes. Heck, if *I* can do it, anyone can.

Dennis:

Thanks. All of your suggestions are right on point. I guess I was just
trying to avoid having to change the battery out but I know it is at least 2
years old. I was trying to think about getting through the winter with it
(the car only gets "exercised" during the winter months unless the weather
and the roads are completely clear, it means driving it with the top up, and
I was/am thinking about starting out the next season with a fresh battery
for touring.

But, as note that could also be a real PITA as well.

I think I'm going to look at the battery tender option, and then decide if I
can endure the winter non-season and put a new battery in (yes, from
WalMart, like you I don't see the "prestige" in paying for a brand name on a
battery, functionality is my concern) in the spring.

Thanks for defining it for me.
