And just like a soap opera within minutes I'm all caught up no matter how much I missed.

Come to think of it, I always read the list during wifey's Tivo'd "The Young and the Restless". And I thought I was doing something different.

Dennis that was great!

You're absolutely right, Dick. This is an ongoing problem with the Ferrari
List. For better or worse, this list is a "community". One that is often
times dominated by a few individuals. Again, for better and for worse.

I've been a member for some time, longer than most, but shorter than some.
It's actually quite amusing to see how some trends work out.

There will be a lull in posts, and someone will lament the dearth of posts.

Then someone, quite possibly Jenkins, will say, jokingly, "hey, we need a
watch/gun/gasoline price/dead cats" thread.

Which will cause someone else to jump in and actually post one, just to stir
things up. Say, "hey, what do you guys think about the new Panerai Ferrari
watch", or "Don't you think that .40S&W is the commonly accepted carry round
today?" or "Those ba$t [at] rd oil companies are screwing the common man by
conspiring to keep gas prices high."

Which invites a round of comments from the usual suspects (me included, all
too often).

Willi will make an allusion to Hitler and/or Nazi Germany.

Doug will respond with a very funny anecdote involving Willi and SoCal car
history and someone being stripped naked.

Larry T will join in with a "yeah, that's great, boy those sure were the
days!"

Dr Ken will have a hilarious but totally OT post about how the liberals
ruined said watch/gun/cat-killing-mechanism.

Brian will agree with the point about the watch/gun, but insist that high
prices for said watch/gun are perfectly reflective of fair market value.

clyDe will point out that Brian's notions of FMV are always insanely too
high.

Jim will agree with clyDe.

Willi will jump back and make a totally gratuitous tear at clyDe.

clyDe will laugh it off.

Larry B will make a sensible response to the topic, then fade away for
another month.

Charles will make another sensible response, and mock Dennis while he's at
it.

Lashdeep will jump in and make another point about said watch/gun, but toss
in a comment about an American Muscle Car too.

Tom Reynolds will respond, "but it REALLY IS a conspiracy!"

Dennis will take the time to write an incredibly long-winded, detailed,
footnoted 17 page dissertation, demonstratively showing how
Tom/Lashdeep/Paul/Mark/Brian much, categorically, absolutely, papally must
be wrong about the conspiracy, but no one reads it because it's much too
boring.

Handa, who actually does read it, goads Dennis on.

Dr. Steve writes an even longer, more right-wing response, bringing up some
aspect of warfare, policing, self-defense or explosives.

Cap. Robert agrees with Dr. Steve, and goads him on.

Paul will try to move the topic back to Ferrari-dom by asking how to fix a
particular 308 problem with the dead cat.

Michel will join in, and say that he suffers from the same problem.

Michael tries to answer Paul's technical question, ignoring for the most
part everything else.

Dave tries to help too, but also makes a point about the gun/watch.

Ditto for George P.

Rick laughs it all off, and tries to point it back towards Ferrari.

Michel will ask, does anyone have the answer to my question, not realizing
that Michael, Dave and George all gave him the answer.

Erik make a very funny but vaguely obscure reference, usually from the other
side of the world.

Britt laughs in amazement at all of this, and asks a pointed Ferrari tech
question.

Jeff tries to help Britt and Paul, then retreats like Larry B for another
month.

AJ responds a bit late to the watch/gun thread, from wherever he's
stationed.

Which in turn prompts Crawford to do the same, while simultaneously making
another post, but completely about Ferraris this time.

Matt responds, desperately trying to get it back on-topic.

John A responds, refusing to let the watch topic die, as he has a practical
watch question.

*** THEN Some poor person who signed up for the _FERRARILIST_ asks a
question, "hey, what does all of this have to do with Ferraris?"

Jenkins then usually ends it with a "cookoo for coca puffs, Porsches sux
Ferrari rules" comment.

THEN THE CYCLE STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN.

[There, is there anyone I haven't gravely insulted?]

Much love and grins,

--Dennis
