Hi Larry,
The 400+ HP I mentioned, was a race motor for a hydroplane, not anywhere near useable in a car. It had a power band about 1500 RPM wide, 6500 to 8000, above that it would blow up. That's why I said 325 to 350 HP.

An interesting side note, there were 2 specials, made by the MG racing shop on the B and C chassis. The MGGTSs then known as MGCGTSs. They initially had a 2 liter four pot B engine, then graduated to an alloy version of the MGC 6 banger. SN's RMO 699F and MBL 546E. They don't have a long racing history, but an impressive one.

outright win and a class 1-2-3 in the 1965 Brands Hatch 1000-mile race
outright win - 1966 Marathon de la Route 84 hour race, at the Nürburgring, 5260 miles, despite early crash damage
9th OA and 3rd in class - 1967 Targa Florio behind two Porsche 910-8 - despite losing 12 minutes in pits with brake problems
class win at Sebring in 1968

That MGB with 400hp sounds incredible - scary fast I bet!! re the Stag - one of the uglier ideas to come out of Triumph. IMHO of course. I agree - the MGB V8 would have been far more successful but the powers at JRT/B-L were intent on killing of MG IMO.
