Indeed, maybe he wanted them for years and didn't want to pay for them at
a market crest? I can't think of any one factor controlling the market,
but many (like the Scottsdale auctions) can influence it over a period of
time.

Maybe he's due for a Boss 302 or 427 Corvette that he wants to hold on to?

Who knows...all speculation from other forums. He could be as pure as
white snow for all I know.
