Tom:

Congratulations on your potential acquisition.

Are you going to drive out to CA to pick it up, or will you have it shipped?
If I remember correctly CA will require that you pay their sales tax if you
pick a car up and drive it away, but not if you have it shipped by common
carrier. Even in the case of our road use tax here in the People's Socialist
Republic of Kentucky it save me enough in relative taxation rates to have my
Corniche shipped here to pay most of the cost of shipping (though that may no
longer be the case given the extortionate price of diesel fuel and trucking
carriage today) but I'd guess that Brian would be the one to chip in here with
more current and commercial knowledge of these things. If you can't find a
carrier of excellent repute let me know and I'll look up the information on the

carrier I used. It is the same common carrier that I subsequently used to
bring the Ferrari down from N.Y. and I have been most satisfied with the
quality
of his work so far.

Of course, living in OK you have the advantage of taking the Amtrak train
out to CA and then driving the historic Rte 66 back home in the car if you did
elect to drive it. Maybe you could find a cheap carrier to pick it up and then
just drop it off around the block.

One caveat to the paragraph on sales taxes. It may not apply if you are
buying the car from an individual rather than a dealer in CA. As always YMMV
and
a call or two to CA DMV may be the best "straight from the horse's mouth" (I
don't know what the etiology of this phrase is, Mr. Ed?) source of
information.
