Re: Why is the Sebring racetrack so rough?

Considering the track is an old abandoned WW2 runway composed of cement slabs,
it's not all that bad. I went only once and I'm now looking at my press pass
ticket good for Saturday, April 1, 1967. Back then, the track was a series of
long straights conected by low gear corners. Very tough on brakes. I used to
have a front license plate that read 'SEBRING PRESS, Fla.' but I think the 1st
wife threw it in the trash before I moved out. All my clothes I found in the
middle of the street being run over by cars, trucks, and buses. Ain't life
grand?

On SPEEDTV right now they are showing a run-up to the race (starts
0930 EST). We see one lap from the new Acura that is being developed.
Buffeting...buffeting... the pavement is incredibly rough! I realize
the answer is economic but why can't they slap some fresh asphalt on
there?

It's embarrassing when you think of the international exposure this
race gets.
