IMHO (and the opinion of countless oldtimers like myself) Sir Stirling was the greatest F1 driver never to have won the WC. He was the consumate professional who's talents stood out above all rivals except Juan Manuel Fangio. Moss was ALWAYS 10 tenths no matter his position in the race. It's a shame that he stuck to driving non-works cars except for his drive with Mercedes as #2 where he was told to let the #1 driver, Fangio win. He did win the British GP that year after Fangio DNF'd. I only saw Moss drive once, in a Lotus at the 1960 USGP held at Riverside in California. 'Black' Jack Brahbam won after Stirling's car failed him yet again. (no spoiler) My wife and sons (Jonah Enzo and Stirling*) were returning home from dinner this evening. On the way through the neighborhood, we passed a house with about a dozen+ cars parked in front. "Hey Honey! I wonder if somebody is having an F1 party!?" "Huh?" "Look at all the cars, looks like a party, and it's F1 season!" "Um. yeah. could be. or. St. Patrick's Day." "Oh, yeah, that's probably it." It's all a matter of priorities I guess. Forza! -steve (* He's named after Stirling Moss, BUT, in his first hour of life, his name was mis-spelled 3 times. So, to save him ungodly amounts of mis-spelled documents, we decided to go with the U.S. version "Sterling". Sad, but to this day everyone except my Grandfather has spelled it "Sterling".) _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/red5hilser%40aol.com Sponsored by BidNip.com eBay Auction Sniper ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
