AFX News Limited Porsche won't meet EU's CO2 emissions cut to 130 g/km - development head 03.01.07, 5:49 AM ET
FRANKFURT (AFX) - Porsche AG head of development Wolfgang Duerheimer that the automaker will be unable to meet a directive proposed by the European Commission to cut carbon dioxide emissions for cars to 130 grams per kilometre in 2012.
'We cannot meet this target,' he told Die Welt, adding that he expects rivals Audi, Mercedes and BMW to be in the same position.
Duerheimer, who also sits on the carmaker's management board, added that the proposed directive will favour mass-market producers and discriminate against premium manufacturers, the report said.
Last month the Commission said carmakers would have to reach an overall cut in emissions to 130 grams from currently 160 per km by 2012.
