Be prepared for many more cross-postings... :-) The producer of the movie (owner of the Enzo) also had his personal Carrera GT destroyed for the movie finale. Maybe the Enzo wreck is just karma coming back to punish him for being a d!ck with nice cars. And I doubt very that the Enzo is beyond repair; please, an Enzo is repairable even if it's entirely burnt to the ground with nothing left but a VIN plate. Heck, this morning, he probably feels like he got a great deal; insurance (car or movie) will likely cover the damage; if not, he's still way ahead of the curve because the cost to repair it is FAR, FAR outweighed by the promotional value of every car nut in the world getting a link to watch the video of Griffin hitting a wall with it. (oh, and this is just as good as the guy in the F50 who, during an autocross, slides it down some stairs and into a shop, all caught on the in-car video....) Vty, --Dennis MSNBC.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- No joke: Eddie Griffin wrecks $1.5M Ferrari Comedian slams vintage Enzo into concrete barrier at Calif. racetrack The Associated Press Updated: 9:17 a.m. ET March 27, 2007 IRWINDALE, Calif. - Eddie Griffin crashed a rare Ferrari Enzo worth $1.5 million into a concrete barrier while practicing at a racetrack Monday, destroying the car but escaping uninjured. The comedian was practicing for a charity race to promote his upcoming film, "Redline," when he drove too fast around a curve at the Irwindale Speedway. Video footage showed the red sports car screeching before it ricocheted off the barrier with heavy damage to its front. "Undercover Brother's good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can't drive," Griffin, referring to one his past films, said after the accident. The film's publicist, Wendy Zocks, said Griffin was "doing OK." "He walked away completely unscratched, but probably a little shaken," Zocks said. The Enzo, valued at around $1.5 million, was owned by the executive producer of "Redline," Daniel Sadek, whose exotic car collection is featured in the movie. Sadek said that the car was damaged beyond repair and that he had "mixed feelings" about the wreck. "I'm glad Eddie came out of the crash OK, but my dream car got destroyed," Sadek said. "I went to my trailer for about 15 minutes and I thought, there's people dying every day. A lot of worse things are happening in the world." Only 400 Ferrari Enzos were ever produced, all between 2002 and 2004. Griffin's credits include the comedies "Undercover Brother"; "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and its sequel; "Date Movie"; and "Norbit." C 2007 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Another destroyed Enzo.... One side comment... this looks like an autocross event. I compete in autocross aka Solo II (20+ years). I also design courses for Glen region (SCCA) events. You never, ever, never, ever lay out a course where a car can under-steer on a corner and strike any solid object. That is just plain stupid.
