Why did the photographer behind the jersey wall not flinch when the car

Am I missing something or was it staged for the filming of the movie?

Often a photographer while looking through the viewfinder, will completely
loose their sense of position or "body awareness" I saw a documentary on a
National Geographic photographer where he was photographing a rodeo in Montana.
He had two locals with him, one kept a firm hand on his belt to yank him out of
the way if the horse/bull got too close. The other kept an eye out for other
unobserved dangers.
