The solar energy available during Boston area winters is minimal. BTW, about 35-45 watts per sq ft is required to melt ice on pavement.

1300' of 16 awg UF solid, single conductor cable. There's a patch of driveway behind my garage that gets little or no sun in the winter and turns into the skating rink from hell. It was time to repave the entire driveay so the window of opportunity was open.
