So today is the first day of "Ferrari Racing days" at Silverstone
celebrating
Ferrari and the FOC UKs 60th/50th birthdays. Weekend of racing at
Silverstone
plus a huge club gathering and an attempt for a guiness book of records
tomorrow with the most ferraris on the track at one time.

Its cold and cloudy and not a lot of FOC people showed up today. All day is
practice and quaifying for the various ferrari club races/Historic
racers/Challenge racers ect. A good gaggle of F1 cars, about 30 F430
challenge cars, ect.
I am wandering through the pits, in and out taking pictures. Nobody cares
where you go or what you look at. No guards are stopping you and pits are
open to
everyone (though 99% of the people there were with the racing teams. I
wander
past a slew of recent Ferrari road cars including the 612 Police car that
they
have here in the UK. Wander past a pretty Veyron sitting behind the pits in
black and creme (The Veyron looks fantastic in person, much much better than

the pics show. Its a small smooth, beautiful car and looks great in the
colours
of a skunk!).

I see Massimo Fedeli in front of one of the Corse Clienti buildings that
Ferrari has set up at the pits. Say "Hi Massimo, hows it going?" Massimo is
worried about the record attempt on Saturday. He really wants it to happen
here in
the UK for bragging rights. We chat a little. I ask him where the FXX's are.
He
says go look in Pit garages 1A-1C; the doors are closed but unlocked. I
wander over and open the door. Inside are 8 FXX's all sitting on their
airjacks,
wheels off, doors and bonnets open and nobody else in the garage but a
grumpy
Itailian mechanic. (The FXX's fill the entire garage). Mechanic: "Gedda
outta
here, its closed off". I wave Massimos business card and say "Massimo said
its
ok". Mechanic: "Donnta you toucha anything but ok, ok" Ithen have 30
minutes
of looking over all the cars first hand and alone but for my buddy. Really
cool! All different colours and schemes. One of them said "Swap Shop, Ft
Lauderdale" on it and "Shelton" so I assume they flew it over. FXX's have
never done a
demo track day in the UK before and tomorrow they will be racing around
Silverstone on a track day display.

Really cool to see up close and the best thing as always about FOC events
here in the UK is you can pretty much go anywhere, see everything and nobody
says
you aren't allowed in certain areas. You just go and do it. Took 800
pictures. Tomorrow I will take part in the record attempt and will watch the
racing
all day, same on Sunday. I know fellow lister Francis Newman is working the
event with the FOC, if anyone else in the UK is in the area it looks to be a
great
weekend.

Just had to share....
