Guys,
the problem is solved ! Thanks for all the help. This is a great group of people!
It was in fact a problem in the wiring. I've checked the voltage at the injector, and it had 12v, but the termo switch was working as expected. While doing this I've found that the wire that comes out of the thermo switch goes into a plastic tube, to protect it. In my case, the plastic was a bit out of place, leaving the wire exposed. It was rubbing against a clamp, making a ground connection !! I've put the plastic tube in place and isolated the wire properly (it was a very small area) and all is well now ! I needed to adjust the idle screw, of course, and went for a ride. Perfect! It starts better when warm, and after about 3 hours I've started it again, with no problems. When cold, it now very briefly goes to about 1,300 rpm and falls to 1,000~950 rpm, as it should
Jeff, my car doesn't have the lambda sensor, catalytic converter or air pump. It is a politically incorrect machine :-) I've learned that in fact the injector is only actuated by the thermo switch, not the electronics. I've also checked that the injector is not leaking (removed it) and it sprays a nice pattern. Good ! I have no temperature sensor in the expansion tank, just the additional air valve, also working as it should. I had checked the throttle switch before, but did it again. It is also working properly.
Rick, the Bosch connectors are in fact original. A couple of them have the electrical contacts in bad shape (the one on the pressure regulator and on the thermo switch) , so if anyone here knows of a source for these, that would be great. In fact, I would only need the pins, not the plastic housing ...
Again thanks for the suggestions. Everytime I get something solved, it is with greater joy that I go for a ride, as it happened this morning. If it wasn't for the family and the first time use of my new barbecue, I would still be driving :-)
Rui - with a grin ....
