Larry,

there was a guy in town here a number of years back who used one as daily
transport during the summers. I believe the only shared part is the roof.
While the styling looks similar, if you saw the two cars side by side, they
are very different, much like looking at a stock porsche Carrera and then a
930. The GTO is much more agressive looking. I think most of the panels
were kevlar on the GTO, but I could be wrong. From the rear, you will also
see the trans hanging down, as the engine was mounted differently than in
the 3x8.

I always loved the look of the 3x8 series and kind of wish they put the GTO
into more regular projuction and dropped a V12 into it. I think there was a
company years back that stuffed a couple of V12 Daytona engines into 308s.
I think it would have been an easier fit in the longer GTO.

Howdy ! Just wondering something - while looking at a diecast model of a 288GTO (not always the truest reproduction) I wondered how much of the GTO bodywork was shared with the 308/328, if any?

I know the GTO has some extra openings and aerodynamic aids, but the
general shape looks pretty close. It looks like most if not all
bodypanels
would interchange - to my untrained eye. WIch I had one of each so I coud
tell ya'll the answer ;-)

Take care - Happy Hump Day -
