Ahhh HA! I discovered the reason my [your] search failed to return the
desired results -
I clicked the lin and since it (the link) wrapped the end of the search criteria stopped with {snip} Ferrar"...
while the "i GTO vs 328" was on the next line. Try the link as described and you;ll see some interesting results ;-)

well, I beg to differ. That search I created for you, returned a whole bunch of stuff on the difference, such as this:
"For the 288 GTO's design Pininfarina clearly used the lines of the
contemporary 308 GTB model. Subtle changes to the GTB's design gave the GTO
a more aggresive overal look. Under the glassfibre and kevlar body panels
very little reminded of the GTB it was styled after. Lightweight materials
were used throughout, many of them only used in Ferrari's F1 contenders. The
entire body was made of kevlar, fiberglass and aluminum, except for the
doors which for safety reasons were made of steel. Kerb weight was low at
1160 kg, which was 115 kg lighter than the less powerful 308."

But, you've convinced me, Larry.
In that vein, allow me to ask a few questions:
"How much horsepower does the 328 have?"
"Does anyone know whether the 512 Boxer came before or after the Testarossa?"
"Has anyone ever modified an F40 for more power?"
"Can 355 wheels be used on a 348?"
"Hey, has anyone heard of an F50 that can be driven on water??"
:-)
Xoxo,
--Dennis

Just wondering something - while looking at a diecast model of a 288GTO(not always the truest reproduction) I wondered how much of the GTO bodywork
was shared with the 308/328, if any?
I know the GTO has some extra openings and aerodynamic aids, but the
general shape looks pretty close. It looks like most if not all
bodypanels
would interchange - to my untrained eye. WIch I had one of each so I coud
tell ya'll the answer ;-)
