Spoiler

That was some crash. Awesome the way the tire cut through and then poof! It was scary the way the car took off - first over the curb and then again when it left the gravel trap. Just a little more speed and he would have launched right over the barrier and into the fence. I find that no matter how hard I try not to, I like Hamilton - good kid and lots of attention to the sport - even though I so badly want to look at him as the enemy (I guess that the Hobbit just makes it easy to hate!).

On the bright side, assuming no big changes during the race - should make for some cool changes in the standings. Almost a 4 way tie in the Driver's championship and a two team race in the Team championship. Not that comforting feeling of the Schumi days - when we'd have things sewn up by now, but nice to see some good competition.

Suppose we will just have to wait and see if anything comes of FerrariGate at the Paris meeting later this week. I'd hate to see the season come down to an asterisk after such god competitive racing, but can't imagine that FIA will have much choice. Even if McL didn't use any of the Ferrari designs on their car, there is the matter of their "inside information" leading to the challenge of the "floating" underbody at the beginning of the season - which now looks like it was part of the "leak." Just shocking.

Hamilton fit to race at Nuerburgring, say McLaren
NUERBURGRING, Germany, July 21 (Reuters) - Formula One championship
leader Lewis Hamilton is fit to race in Sunday's European Grand Prix,
his McLaren team said on Saturday.
"There is at this moment in time absolutely no medical reason that he
can't race," team boss Ron Dennis told reporters after the 22-year-
old Briton returned to the paddock from hospital after a heavy crash
in qualifying.
Hamilton must, however, have a final check by the International
Automobile Federation's doctor on Sunday morning before being
formally cleared to race.
