He also did a great pictorial The Cruel Sport. He was also a writer on the movie Grand Prix but he didn't manage to get off the ground and was replaced.

This is a must for any racing fan. One of the most interesting racing
book I’ve ever read.

CARS AT SPEED classic stories from Grand Prix’s golden age by Robert
Daley. First published in 1961, it is reprinted today. Amazon.com sent
me an email 2 weeks ago for this book ($19.00) and I bought it. Robert
Daley was writing for The New York Times back then and attended a load
of races in Europe. He finally decided to write this book. It sold well
back then, but the establishment (other racing writers) didn’t like it
at all because Daley wrote a lot about the deaths in races. Back then
writers tried to avoid such bad news.

Once again, an absolute must.
