Hi Rick,
Making great progress! What is that? 72? 73? I'm restoring mine -
finished painting it last year and today I worked on the w'shield assy. The
body to frame weatherstrip was a major PITA. I didn;t like the way the one
I put on a couple of years ago looked so I removed it and put another new
one on. This went on a lot better but I'm still trying to find the best way
to find the best way to trim the w'strip where it meets the frame in a V on
each corner. There's a couple of screws that are under the w'strip but they
must be installed prior to putting the rubber in place, so I have to work
out the logistics of tiightening the screws and installing the rubber.

Anyway, I had totally stripped my MG of everything - all wiring, fuel lines,
everything. Finally got the engine and transmission back in.I never knew
how large a project it is to completely strip a car of all parts until I
decided to restore this MG which I bought in 1970 from a shop who had bought
it from a insurance co that had totalled it. I paid $350 for it and all it
needed was a fuel pump, RF fender and new exhaust. Even tho the car had
been totalled, I never needed a FE Alignment and put 350K miles on it.
Never had a problem with uneven tire wear either. MGs may have a bad Rep
but it only let me down once while going to work when the fuel pump died.

Now I'm putting it together as a daily driver. Those who have never driven
a old english sports car don;t know what they;re missing. The smell of old
soft leather, oil, rubber and all the other things that come with a old
sports car create a wonderful mix of memories. I wish Ferrari's of the 50s
and 60s were not so expensive. It'd be great to find one and drive it all
over without thinking about all the money it would be worth if it were
restored.

Naturally, I would like to find the ultimate sports car whch is why I
mentioned Ferrari - but thankfully, there are still some Alfa's. AH 3000s,
Triumph's, Lotus', Lancia's etc - which can be found and driven. Of course,
those are also escalating in price also. I keep looking for a early 70s
Alfa GTV but they started rusting when they were loaded for the boat ride to
the US.

Hopefully ya'll understand what I;m trying to say in my pitiful manner.

Later ---
