Great write up Tom. I never looked at the photos of the box truck accident that closely or long enough to notice that in fact you are correct! It was a VW version of the microcar genre. It still doesn't work for me here in the mass transit of I-95 Boca Raton to Miami but I can see it being used as a runabout in a gated community or perhaps short stints to the beach.

Went to the Saturday/Sunday Smartfortwo road test both days. Saturday was just too crowded and I had family obligations in the pm, so I had to go back Sunday. Glad I did. Pictures and impressions posted on www.members.cox.net/kjtar
