Mauricio,

I also live in South Florida, I recently soldmy 75
Ferrari 308 GT4 and purchased a near mint condition
California 1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi.

I would like to inform you that there is a fine
bodyshop here in South Florida that takes care of most
high end Ferraris for dealerships and collectors alike
specialized in vintage and modern Ferraris. It is
called Exotica Body Works run by Luc Grondon at 2492
SW 57 Ave., Hollywood, FL 33023. Tel. 954-494-8772,
Email: luc32663 [at] aol.com. Website
www.exoticabodyworks.com Checkout his website and give
him a visit.

We should get together some time. I would love to
learn more about the Testarossa and its
maintenance/oenership costs, I plan on getting one
sometime down the road. My Ferrari mechanic is Tim
Stanford, fantastic guy. I have heard crazy stories
about people spending $15K-$25K on services on
Testarossas. Good to hear that it can be
significantly less by doing some of the work yourself.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for all of the advice. I am new to the
Ferrari list but I can see that it is a great source
of information. I have owned my 90 Testarossa for
about three years (it was my 50th Birthday present to
myself) but I previously owned numerous sports cars,
mostly Porsches 911s and a few race cars (SCCA formula
Vee, Ford, etc.) I enjoy doing all of the maintenance
on my TR, yes even the major service and currently
have the engine-transmission out for the schedule
service. I hope to share future information with the
list.

Based on your overall input, (unless I find a place
closer to Florida), I am going to tow the car up to
Classic Coach in N.J. for the frame work. On the
phone, (I spoke to Rocco) they seemed the most
knowledgeable and more importantly they were willing
to do just what I needed done and not give me a list
of "other things" that might need to be done. I
unfortunately find that, at least our local dealer,
deals with too many people with more money than car
knowledge, which really is a turnoff to guys that like
to work on their cars and know enough to do it.

I can't speak for the newer (or older for that
matter), Ferraris but with the right equipment, tools
and some time, TRs are really not that complicated to
work on, at least in my humble opinion.

By the way Ferrari of Central Florida is owned by
Classic Coach, however they send all of their frame
and body work to the N.J. shop. I have heard that
there is a shop in West Palm Beach that has a frame
machine for Ferrari's where the South Florida dealers
send there work, but neither one (Fort Lauderdale or
Coral Gables) will disclose the shop.

If anyone knows, it will save me a two day tow to N.J.

Thanks again, Maurizio
