Thanks Dave, I didn't know that. Ok, so this could explain a few things. Many years ago I came very close to buying a Mitsubishi 3000 VR4. The thing that stopped me was how it shifted, exactly like this 360 did! I really wanted to say that in the 1st e-mail but decided not to. I remember that the VR4 had a cable linkage and for very fast shifts the cable would actually (very slightly) stretch and I could feel the lack of positive connection to the transmission. [Not that it needed an adjustment, this is just the way it works.] It feels like you push the shifter into a gear and then a fraction of a moment later, you get some feedback that the gear finally actually engaged. This only shows up with fast shifts. So, the question is, to the 360 owners out there with manual transmissions, is this indicative of your car or is this particular car in need of an adjustment? And what is the history of the cable shift linkage and have they stuck with it for the F430s? Ok, so last night I get a call from a friend of mine that has some other well off friends. Anyway, one of these friends is having a photo shoot done with some of his cars and he is looking for some trust worthy drivers to move the cars around from location to location. One of the cars that needs to be driven is a 2003 Ferrari 360 Spider. I met the guy that owns these cars a year or so ago and he knew that I also owned a Ferrari, so I got the Ferrari and my buddy got to drive a 2005 Ford GT all day. We left Jenks (a south Tulsa suburb) and had to drive to Skiatook lake (way North West of Tulsa) and then into Collinsville (way North of Tulsa) and back to Jenks. So, somewhere just over 100 miles total driving. WOW! After the first 4 miles or so I found sport mode and then I could step out the back end on demand. We were running late for the shoot, at one point I was following the GT and I was running 145mph on a two lane headed out to the lake. WOW, WOW, WOW! I am so in love with this car! I now have a bad case of the gotta haves. One mistake was that they told me that it goes in for new tires next week, so feel free to use them up some more. Oh, my God, was this so much fun! Stepping out the back end on demand and having a blast. What a day. However, we did get busted in the park at the lake for doing 25mph in a 15mph zone. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. The old fart park ranger finally just got mad and walked off without writing us a ticket or anything. It was great! I was handed the keys around 8:30 this morning and finally parked it around 2:00 this afternoon. I have attached a picture of the two cars and I hope it comes through. The only negatives I had were: the heater didn't work at all (it was 50 degrees when we started this morning). It is a 6 speed manual car (not F1) and the shifting was actually kinda sloppy. Is this a trait of the modern manual cars? I swear that my Mondial will shift faster and more positive than that 360 does. And the passenger's side window rattled up against the top somehow. But, when the top was down and the windows were down, there was no noise. But oh my, I love the power, the balance, the breaking, the overall drivability, and the looks. Oh my what a day. The only way it could have been better is if I could have driven it home and parked it in my garage. Someday! Daddy so wants!
