My Old Man bought the 1st TV set in our town ('47 or '48?). At the time, L.A. 
had 3 stations, which began broadcasting at 5pm. The rest of the time They 
showed the Indian test pattern. People that we didn't even know knocked on the 
door and asked, "Can we watch television?" They would sit by the hour and watch 
the test pattern becore programing started. The 1st time the Rose Bowl was 
telecast, I charged 10c at the door and had my 1st SRO crowd.? Too bad that I 
was too young to buy beer. I would have made a killing!
