Isn't milk one of the more heavily subsidized products? BTW are we still protecting the production of wool? FYI for those who don;t know, Wool since it was heavily used in making military uniforms was listed as being critical to the War Effort in the 40s - so it's production was protected. Still is AFAIK, nearly 50 years later, even though many synthetic materials do a much better job at making warm weather clothing. ;-/

It's actually much more related than you think

1. Morons think that Ethanol is the cure-all for the fuel crisis.

2. Politicians think that morons will vote for them, so they legislate the
use of ethanol.

3. As more corn is diverted to ethanol production, the cost of livestock
feed shoots through the roof.

4. Food prices skyrocket - everything from snacks using corn syrup to meat
to milk.

Ah, you can defy the laws of man, but you can't avoid the law of unintended
consequences.

As usual, I am confused. Der Frau and recently went to town to do some
shopping. We filled our KIA Sedona?tank up with reg/unleaded gas @ $2.85 per
gallon. In addition we bought a gallon of 2% milk for the boy?@ $3.95 per
gallon, over a dollar more for milk than gas. Since there are a hell of a
lot more dairies around here than oil wells or refineries, can someone out
there help this old fool as to why? As I said, I am confused. What's next
... milk will be more expensive than the tap water we buy in the .5 litre
plastic bottles?

Yer pal, Bubba?
