In Florida, it was another typical winter day. A balmy 82 degrees at
noon, down to 79 now. As usual - in the afternoon, looks like storm
clouds on the horizon. Probably a quick shower to cool things down
and water the plants before sundown.
Took the boat out for a quick run earlier - realized that her bottom must be muck covered when she would only hit 25 knots. Stuck my head under to confirm when I got back. She didn't look as bad last year after the WHOLE winter. She has only been down here for 7 weeks and she is already more of a mess than birthday boy Bubba's diapers after a cLyDe one liner. Looks like I'm gonna have to don the dive gear and the putty knife later this week to scrape her clean. Pretty sad that 90% of my dive log now consists of entries that read "bottom scraping - 2.5 hours." I remember when I used to see wrecks, and reefs, and fish. Now I spend all my "wet time" upside down removing seaweed and green gunk from the hull.
I just can't believe how fast the crud is growing this year ... the water must be extra warm or something (maybe there IS something to this global warming crap). Time to leave the beach and move to the mountains before the sea level rises and everyone moves to Denver!
