When I was in grade school, we were able to order paperback books through some service. One of them was "The Red Car" which I recently found. There was also another book I read as a kid about a kid who built a Model A Ford, got into some kind of trouble, and was mentored by a crew cut guy who had a Scottish mechanic helper who hated the New York Yankees. And, there was a contemporary of the kid, a "bad" kid, who had a car that he thought was really hot, but looked like a bathtub. At the end of the story there was a hill climb and the "good" kid won, the other kid's car broke down...what was the name of that book? There was a chopped A on the cover in a kind of purple color, geez, I can picture it now... HELP! Anyone in their early to mid 60s or maybe late 50s, can you ID this book? I think the mentor's name was Webb, he was married and had a very classic American car, maybe a Stutz, and there was a British dude in the book as well, with an ascot and everything, Tom Reynolds Tulsa, OK
