Ok, I need some gun advice.  And I apologize in advance for bringing up a
gun thread!

A friend of mine has offer to sell me a gun (un solicited mind you).  It is
a Glock G19 with 4 clips (nothing else comes with it) for $500 cash and no
paper work.  I know the last two owners and they are good people so I am
assuming that the gun has no bad history (but the gun is not registered to
either of these guys and I have no clue who it is registered to).  

I have never owned a hand gun.  But, I have shot many (repeat many).  I grew
up in a gun nut (and I use this term affectionately) family and have shot
many guns including machine guns, sniper rifles, hunting rifles, shotguns,
muzzle loaders, a flint lock pistol (actually belonged to a real pirate),
and just about every make of pistol out there.  We are going to go shot this
one in a week or so.  But, I have never considered carrying one before.  Of
all of the pistols I have shot, the most comfortable one was a Berretta (I
don't remember the model number).  However, I really don't have much
experience with a Glock.    

The gun thread a few weeks back really got me thinking and then a quick
survey of my friends indicated that over 50% of them have concealed carry
permits and actually carry a gun quite often.

I remember some Glock bashing in this thread.  I have found new G19s for
just a little bit more than this price.  So, I am paying for extra clips and
no paperwork.  

So, any thoughts or advice.  

Please feel free to respond off the list to keep the gun traffic down.
