Take a look at PC Magazine Downloads - here's one called "Active Kill Disk" which destroys all data on the HD.

If you don;t like the looks of that one, go directly to pcmag and search downloads. www.pcmag.com
They offer a 1/2 dozen disk wiping programs for free download. I;m told it is a good idea to run a couple of these programs to get all the data but I may be wrong -- Happy New Year -

I have heard the Starvation Army will take them. Along those lines - what is the best way to kill off all data on a hard drive? Ok ok take it out and burn it but other than that - some program?
