That's not rust, those are factory original rain drain holes.  I remember
hearing where Minis being manufactured back in the 60-70s, would have their
bodies built up, then rolled outside, unpainted, for a few days or more
before painting and finishing.  I think it was the Brits who decided primer
should be rust colour, just to throw everyone off. ;-)
