Gavin -

Been there, done that....Ferrari got very wet, inside and out. Not much fun.
Not good for the car.

Planned a romantic trip with late wife from San Diego up to the Wine Country
north of San Francisco. It started raining just above LA. Top leaked. Rear
hatch leaked around the Ferrari emblem. Luggage wet. I gave up around the Bay
Area and headed home. Wife was pissed. She didn't see the problem. Rain is
expected, cars get wet. What's the problem? I was defensive, thinking of the
rust that would ensue. And Rust Never Sleeps!

Car preformed great, didn't miss a beat, but it was no fun at all.

My car is also a '78. I have some galvanized panels in the front, probably
replaced due to crash damage, but most of the rest are original. And all show
some rust. A couple of suspicious bubbles down in front of the doors. Comes
with the territory, I guess. But now I don't drive when rain threatens. Here
in sunny Southern California, there are few days of rain, so that is not much
of a problem.

I want this car to last at least as long as I do. If it is raining, I drive
the Trailblazer or the Truck. Ferrari, Corvette and motorcycles stay in the
garage, safe and warm.

Ok... I WAS going to take the Ferrari on a 700KM trip this weekend..... but
the weather looks like it is going to get bad so I am taking my van
instead....

It's not the getting wet that worries me.. it's that it would not be an
enjoyable drive in the rain.. and the car is to be enjoyed...

Any comments on that?
