On another topic, while I was typing my previous email about the super bowl,
the phone rang - someone was collecting for Childrens Luekemia research -
initially I said I'd donate $10 and then did what I always do - ask what %
the charity gets - the guy said, "wait, let me look it up." - then came back
and said 15% !! I said no thanks.
Isn;t that outrageous?! I guess telemarketeers need to make money too but it seems devious to do things that way. They start out by "suggesting" a $50 donation - making the charity get a big $7.50 and the collector $43.50. Pretty good for one phone call - although I'm sure they must make a lot of phone calls.
