Hi Jim,
I'm in agreement with Jeff Greenfield's and Doug's suggestions. Since you can't drive away in your present situation - and I think leaving it asleep is the best option - plugs, valves, carbs, etc all suffer.
I hope you have Sta-Bil in the fuel system - after putting it in the tank run the engine long enough to get it into the carb/fuel inj where it will keep all those components from becoming gummed up -- this is *critical* - I use it in everything from lawnmowers to weedeaters to my 911 - and it'll go in my Ferrari when I get one. ;-)
When you *can* drive, this is what I would do - start the car and let it idle for 10-20 seconds - then drive away but don't do any hard accelerations or allow the engine to lug - don't go past 3000 rpm until temp gauge reads 1/2 way to normal then stay below 4000 until normal is reached. Once normal is reached don't go to redline until the oil has had time to fully warm up - usually at least 1/2 our of driving.
Have fun --

Ok, since we are talking Ferraris today....
What is the list concensus on letting your 3x8 idle/warm up? I'd prefer to get in her and go, however the packed snow/ice on the roads are precluding me from that. Secondly, I know that if I let my GT4 sit for more than 2 weeks, she turns into a real b*tch! So, what I do is I'll fire her up and let her idle up to temp. (15-20mins..) During that time I'll check out all my hoses, make sure clamps are tight, fiddle around in the garage and generally stink up the place. I'll then shut her down and check the oil.
If the ice would get out of my Cul de Sac, I could drive her around my neighborhood!!! :(
Thoughts?
