Hi Steve,
Your observations are, as always astute - McC's VP pick will be critical as
his age is showing more and more daily. Cannot imagine what his years in Hotel
Hilton did to his long-term health potential. Probably did not enhance it.

As to Mr Buckleys facial comments - I bet everyone in Heaven (or the bad
place) has gone out and bought a new Thesaurus or perhaps an unabridged
Websters if they are allowed a cart to haul it around on as they listen to
William's tomes. He was quite a personality. I hear he purposefully
cultivated his vocabulary (and worked very hard on it) so it would be his
"stand-out" trait to elevate him above his peers at the Ivy Halls. Neat guy.

As far as HC not listening to others - or playing well with others - she
has convinced herself that her "35 years of public service" as the wife of a
public person - somehow qualifies her to be President or even a Senator
(Gasp!). Who could imagine what the sympathy vote could do?

I'm sure well have lots to complain about in the future regardless of which of
the 3 dems win -

  Larry:

I'm not sure what to expect over the next four years as when you break it
down to issues such as Immigration Reform, NAFTA, and the other legislation
sponsored by the Dynamic Trio, there really isn't much to differentiate except
if the voter wishes to decide which minority, the Elderly, Women, or
African-American they would like to inhabit the White House.

One big question that arises if one chooses the Elderly. Given the age of the
McManchurian Candidate of pseudo-Red State domain there remains the criticality
of VP selection. If he is not consumed by age and infirmity by the end of his
first term, leaving his VP as the class leader for the party in replacement
therapy, his second term might be the "set up" for the score afterwards by that
VP. In this case, selection of the VP candidate is critical. Then again, if he
gains the longevity gene from his mother, and continues to have access to
marital wealth there still may not be any solution to the problems of his
Presidency other than trying to regain control of Congress, or at as minimum,
split Congress along any of the potentially disparate factions and let gridlock
save us from open borders, economic distress and subservience to the OPEC
despots such as Hugo in Venezuela. I guess the upside to this is that the
$8.00/gal. premium gasoline that our Ferraris require will be self-limiting in
annual mileage which should reduce the mileage-related maintenance costs <vbg>.

If the "Blue State" duo take over nothing will be differentiated except for
the selection of the minority group that will be empowered. Welfare and social
program costs will, of course, soar, Spanish will be the second national
language, or perhaps ebonics if that still exists and is in favor, and of
course there will be the savings from the abolishment of the Border Patrol, if
not the entire ICE organization.

The most interesting shows to watch will be Oprah, and Lou Dobbs, and perhaps
Adult Swim on the late night cartoon channel. Credible, serious journalism will
probably retreat to the printed page in the form of the Wall Street Journal,
though its impartiality comes into question when it comes to things such as oil
company profits and their sources (remember the $8.00/gal premium fuel bill we
will most probably be facing while Hugo Chavez views our economic situation as
the daily comics page of his newspaper).

Where is William F. Buckley when we need him? If there are, as the song goes,
truly "holes in the floor of heaven" he must be looking down at us right now
and amusing his co-occupants with those really great facial gestures. Or.
perhaps that might be "looking upwards"

I'm going to look for a crystal ball on eBay right now, or bid on a deck of
Tarot cards and learn the dates and times of the birth of all of the critical
figures. Once I learn how to read and interpret these tools of prognostication
perhaps I can post my readings albeit infrequently, but when appropriate to our
list.

With tongue comfortably ensconced in the left cheek, for obvious reasons,
