A brief history on this proposed event..... Some of us were talking on Fchat and FerrariList about having a National GT4 get together. When word got around, the idea of having another grassroots "Hallett '99" type of event quickly spread. Then, somebody suggested that it would be a great idea to have a "308's in 2008" event to celebrate our beloved model. I spoke up and started to spread the word on this and now it looks like I'm going to be the "Rick Lindsay" of this event. The official dates are: October 10-12, 2008. So there you have it. So, where are we and what is the plan???? Memphis/Tunica was chosen as the proposed place to have this event. It is felt to be a great "central" location to the majority of owners, plus there were some connections there to one of the Casinos. The original location proposed was Sam's Town. They are willing to host the event, but need an idea of how many cars/attendees. We now have a connection with the Grand Casino through Capt. Rehkopf. Not being from the area and really having no connection, we should discuss this quickly so people can start to make plans as there is also the "Blues Festival" the same weekend. My understanding is that the Grand may be a nicer place for a "family" type of event with more to do for kids/spouses. Again, there is some input needed here. What activities will there be? The idea of this is to get together 3x8 owners/wives/families to have a nice weekend in a nice location to celebrate our cars. All Ferraris are invited; however the gathering is to showcase the 308's and its derivatives. Proposed activities will include: Track event (Mike Charness, would you be willing to help out here?) Car show. There was a suggestion to have a "donation at the door" type of show to raise $$ for a local charity, TBD. There are several ides that have been floated in regards to the cars. Some have included giving rides to having an autocross type of event. Tech Session. Clyde Romero and Wade Nunez have offered to put on a Tech Session. Wade will bring down a couple 308 motors. We will need a shop/location to do this. I will volunteer my car to have Clyde show the world how to do the quick and easy valve adjustment. :-) Attendee dinner(s). TBD F1 Viewing. Capt. Rehkopf suggested this could be held at the clubhouse of a local golf club where he has connections. There is a strong desire to keep this a grassroots effort. No offense to any groups out there, especially the FCA. That being said, we need to discuss things like: sponsorship opportunities, website, advertising, or just keep it to the FerrariList and FChat. We would need to figure out any upfront costs such as reserving the track, etc. Please use the above Subject line so we all know to read this Email quickly. If you do not want to be involved, please let me know and I'll remove you from the distribution list. Also, if you know someone who wants to be involved, let me know as well. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know what the heck I'm doing, I'm just obnoxious enough to see this thing through. :-) Jim Wilcox, aka JimShadow 574-320-7360
