The only thing I've had to add (other than safety equipment) to my Z06 is a
transmission oil cooler. The tranny sits in a well with CATs on either side.
So it gets very hot at speed. Mine would overtemp if I ran more than 130mph
for over 20 minutes. GM offers a kit in its performance catalog.

Strongly suggest getting a roll bar. I got mine from Autopower here in San
Diego. And of course a racing harness, fire suit, etc. Most events have a
list of required equipment that varies with the speed class.

Bob, I'm enjoying the thread on your ORR experiences. I hope to be able to do
that one day soon.
Due to your considerable high speed C5 experience in competitive events, you
are probably the right person for my friend Hamid to talk to.
He just bought a 98 C5 coupe (hatch) and wants to do some upgrades for open
track, high speed driving.
Is there a checklist of mods that you would do? Also, what order would you
tackle things?

Thanks,
LS

How do you obtain "track knowledge"? I mean, w/o a high speed pre-run,
it would seem awful easy to mess up on a corner that was a tad sharper
than you thought.

On a related note, how fast (slow) are the slowest corners? How fast
do you have to go to make up for the slower sections?

100K - that's pretty good. If you have not already, give the wheel
bearings a good look - especially the rears. A friend used to rent track
time for his C5 on the higher speed tracks like Daytona. After only
5k miles, the rears were dangerously shot. Like 2" - 3" freeplay at
the rims.

Hans.
