OK Rick - Well - this system is simply a Constant Injection System, CIS, 
that has been around for some time, just not with Ferrari.  Any good Bosch 
FI book will chat it up and there are a few that are CIS injection special. 
These can be found.

No doubt your tech has a good feel for these systems.  CIS runs primarily on 
fuel pressure and CO% readings.  So he has to have a CO reader (expensive - 
tho some fellow swear they can use a dwell meter just  as well) and pressure 
gauges.

The little O2 sensor may not play a big part (in early FI systems but it IS 
the eyes of later systems - BIG time) other than for emission reasons and 
getting the three way cat to chemically work.  It simply dithers the fuel 
mixture rich lean to give too much fuel, too much oxygen which allows the 
catalyst action to scrub the crap coming down the pipe and turn it into CO2 
and water - in theory.
