Hi George,

The bare aluminum looks real nice when it's polished. A layer of clear coat over the top keeps them looking bright.

Best,

Bill

Not me. I gave up on the idea of trying to pull the head on the 308 without pulling the engine. It is really shoehorned in. So I ordered an engine Hoist. Northern Tool has a 1 tone folding unit for !$120 with ~100 d shipping. It should be here in a day or two. I've removed and marked all the hoses and electrical cables, leaving only the clutch cable and the shift linkage. I hope to unbolt the headers on Sat. and get some lifting straps for the job. I still have not unbolted the CV couplers. They are soaking in several squirt baths of WD-40. I tried without WD-40 but chickened out at ~100 ft-lbs. We are away on vacation soon for ~2 weeks so I hope to have the repair complete by the end of the month. I was thinking of doing the cam covers and intake manifold cover in the QV red because it looks so much nicer than the bare Al cam covers and black intake manifold cover. I really miss the scream of the engine and the lateral Gs of the tight corners.

Happy driving all.

Not all QVs have the red cam cover painting -- mine don't ('85 Euro
308). Good luck with the job, and document it!

It's very sad that this happened, however, it will be HEAVEN when its all back together and you're screaming down the highway full throttle!!! Be sure to photo document for those of us who are going to be doing engine out services soon. (if you can).
