Someone's impressions of 512 TR vs. 512M:

"Interesting topic.

I had both a 512 and a 512M and put a lot of miles on both. It is a night
and day difference between the two cars. The M car is a much faster, better
car all around. I did the same work to both, had the ECU re mapped, took off
all the cats and had custom exhausts done for both. The M actually had a set
of tubi headers that were really hard to come by. I took the M on the 2002
Gumball and it ran flawless. It is a bit of an ugly duckling but a great car
to drive.

By the way, the weak point on these cars is the input shaft in the
transmission. If you add power to the car, they break, as I found out in the
middle of the Malibu canyons at 7am on Christmas morning a few years back.
This is the main reason I sold mine. The fix is having a custom input shaft
made.

Prices on them have gone up over the last year. Motorcars had one a few
months back they sold for in the low 200K's. Since there are only 75 here in
the US they have become sort of a cult car. "

Low 200ks is too much money for this sort of car, IMHO.....but just the
right price for the super collector who has everything. :)
