Hey Rick: Houston must have gotten rid of all your left-over Katrina refugees. 
From the reports?that I heard, they were more into rape, robbery, murder, and 
some say ... even a little cannibalism thrown in for good measure, rather than 
helping each other out in times of crisis. They don't call it, 'The Big Easy' 
for nothing.

Hey gang. Status note is attached BUT I wanna make a statement. 

I can't see TV so I don't know what the media is saying BUT Houston residents 
are AWSOME. Neighbors are helping neighbors, sharing food, ice, water, we even 
have a neighbor who showed up with an extension cord offering a little spare 
juice from his generator. We're hooking up a little dorm room fridge tomorrow.  
Some folks are suffering terribly but many of us have been spared and are 
getting by. In fact, those same lucky folks are volunteering with the less 
fortunate.

Thanks. We're functional - kinda. I got home this morning on one of the first 
flights into IAH. I left Chicago yesterday and drove to Nashville. Couldn't get 
any further because of no fuel. Lucked into flight this morning at about 4am. 
Power expected to be out another week or so. Cleaned out fridge today. Cooked 
what we could on grill, shared the rest with neighbors. Have ample water. Nancy 
prepares really well. Patched roof this afternoon. Will hold until I can affect 
a correct repair. Groceries starting to reopen in some neighborhoods. Not ours.
