Badges

My 'new' badge came from Dennis McCann - he, like Rutlands, get their stock
from Italy (so they tell their customers, probably same-story from Ricambi,
too) - however, my badge arrived in OEM Ferrari packaging (like my horn button,
my Fuel Injector seals, and whatnot - sealed with the blue-on-white
Ferrari/Maserati Factory inventory labels and everything).  I used the same OEM
Part number to order my badge, and paid $150 less.....The original badges
haven't been made by anyone in over 15 years...Ricambi was contacted to check
their 'old' parts bin, and they don't have them either....I forwarded pics of
the original 1984 OEM design to Rutlands, McCann, and Black Barts and nobody
could match it...some clueless idiots at Lyle Tanner told me they couldn't even
tell the difference (is there an Optometrist in the house?)....the design
change in the badge reflects a completely new supplier under-contract with the
Factory.  Those who insist on paying
full-retail are merely providing SpA with an extra $150 in profit margin -
bless your heart, the team needs a new fuel rig anyway.

A local friend and Ferrari wrench is 'friends' with the guy/hermit from
PartsSouce up in Maine - I've met the guy on a business trip to the area, he
doesn't like people.  Let's just say, Amelia Earhart offers better
communication and service these days.....good luck with him.

And as for Scottie's comment - the only thing differentiating 'todays' Ferrari
designs from a Japanese rebody, IMHO is the badge on the hood - otherwise, you
might as well call it the 'new Corvette'......Joe the Plumber can't tell the
difference...

We've only got the currently available ones from Ferrari. For the older
style, We'd turn to Dennis McCann or Geoff Ohland at Partsource.

For the "new" ones, there are so many non-genuine ones available it's
hard to keep track of them. There are also genuine ones coming out the
back door of the place that makes them - packaging included!

To put it in perspective, if it's less than $100 it definitely isn't
genuine through Ferrari. If it's less than $150, I doubt it also.
Ferrari list is $245.68 for the one that suits cars 84 - 94 but not 348
(Part 60795400). For 348, 355, 456, 550, 575, 612 (Part 62673100) list
is $209.82 - this could conceivably be genuine at $150 if sourced from
overseas now the dollar has strengthened. At $100 - not genuine. For
360, 430 and Enzo (Part 65394800) list is $244.77.
