My two cents... Sorry In Chicago, they were going to force big box stores to pay a "living wage". I believe it came out to $13 an hour to work at a Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart then just started building stores at the border of the city. Now I'm all for a fair wage but last time I checked, working entry level at a Wal-Mart wasn't a "career move" or one that you raised your children to aspire to. I was raised "finish school or you'll be stocking shelves at Kmart for the rest of your life". I understand there are tough circumstances for some. They won't get pity from my girlfriend. She immigrated from Poland with a high school degree and not knowing how to speak English. Filed for citizenship under asylum (communist country at the time). She worked two jobs, went to college with money out of her own pocket, got a degree in nursing. Now she has a paid off 4 bedroom house in the suburbs and buys a new BMW every 4 years cash. I'm tired of gov't charity. I'm tired of whiners. Most people I see on welfare that are "able-bodied" don't work at least 60 hours a week like I did. Don't try to improve themselves or situation. They rather have their hand out and demand what they believe is their right to government services with no understanding it's not the gov't paying for it but my taxes. Of course they don't care because they don't pay taxes in the first place! I grew up on no name clothing, my parents worked hard and I worked with them to grow the family business. I'm reaping what I sowed. I went to public school. Heck, Obama was worse off than me and now he's the President. I don't have to go on because most of you understand what I'm getting at. There are enough gov't programs and private charity groups for those that WANT to help themselves. There are services helping those that don't even want it... Anyway, when one of my friends complains about "republicans" or "rich people" like me (hah) , government issues, political views based on late night monologues, etc., I go into a simple yet effective rant similar to the above. They can't seem to intellectually respond. Rodney must calm down now...
