You asked <<I haven't heard much from their racing program about [Ford GT]>> They are in the AMS competing against the Ferrari 430s and Porsche's - the Black Swan racing team is running Ford GTs but backing from corporate Ford seems well hiddden =

They have a cheif engineer familiar to all Ferrari enthusiasts - Kevin Doran who ran Ferrari 333s at Lemans and ALMS tracks with some success.

Take care -

That's awesome. Did Bondurant tell you anything that was left out of the interviews? What a time to be in racing. No CAD aerodynamics. No ECU's. Just good old fashioned hard driving and cheatin'!

Well, Ford did bring back the GT and kicked some major butt with it. I haven't heard much from their racing program about it. Anyone know of Ford getting serious in ALMS or anywhere in Europe with it? I'd assume any spending from the Big 3 has to be on or near the back burner. it would be nice to see more Ferrari's at the track to take on Porsche and Corvette. I can't stand the Pontiac. It has no mojo!

As nice as the new cars are, it is a completely different driving style with all the electronics. I'm glad they got rid of traction control in F1. I recently jumped into a friends old race car. It's like I forgot how to drive a pure racer. Of course a few laps later and I was able to smok'em sideways like days of yore... heh heh heh. Can ya smell it? Burnt rubber. Ain't nothing like it!

I also met Bondurant there and asked him about the Shelby years briefly. He was a great guy to talk to and the DVD backed up some of his great stories.

Now, we have the 599GTB and 4 wheel drive exotics.

What happened?

I finally got through the 2nd DVD with deleted scenes and driver interviews. It's like an entire different video. The behind the scenes stories of the battle on the track and between drivers. Ford's determination to beat Ferrari. How Ferrari canceled Monza to insure a manufacture's championship. When Shelby asked Ford what are the financial constraints, there weren't any! Interviews with the European team drivers that never made it to the original broadcast. Honestly, I can't wait to watch it again. I had it playing in my office in the background and missed some of the footage. Just the audio alone was intriguing! I purchased my copy at spiritlevelfilm.com. It's the same place I picked up my copy of Rendezvous.
