Unlikely that a new motor will fix it - unless it doesn't work at all. The problem is two-fold.1. The mechanism is full of grease that over time, sets like epoxy resin. Clean that gunk out and regrease with lithium grease and the motor will have a lot less work to do.
2. The wiring for these things is crazy. The motor has +12 coming direct from the fuse box. The ground is switched by the console switches to one of 2 poles in the motor - one for up, other for down. If you use the +12 and the switching ground to trigger a set of relays installed in the door, you can use a local ground in the door itself as the ground for the motor circuit, rather than running through multiple connections and old cruddy switches. There are commercially available "Window Accelerators" that house this all in a neat little box. It is fairly straightforward if you want to do it yourself though. There's plenty on ferrarichat including circuit diagram and connection instructions.
You can check the voltage at the motor when power is applied to it. You'll be lucky to see 8 volts - maybe less. Don't make the mistake of checking the +12 against the door chassis - it's always a nice healthy +12 or so and can hide the real problem. Measure at the motor terminals...
Everything I have described is DIY, but it can be fiddly. That mechanism has a cable that does the work - that thing can get awful tangled if you don't pay attention :) I know this from personal experience! It's also pretty tight working in the door cavity, so wear some thin leather gardening gloves as the edges are pretty sharp. Take your time - it'll work out well.

Ferrari 1981 308 GTSi. I think it's time to change the window motor on the driver's side. I cleaned the switch twice and now nothing moves. No rush I got all winter to do it.Rutlands from Georgia has one (OEM) for $120.00 I was wondering if I could buy a cheaper one (non-OEM) ? Any ideas ? Before I ask my mechanic to do it, is it hard to change ? Thank you!
