Larry,Not sure where you are living but if you drive through BFE America (I drove from Northern IL to DFW for Thanksgiving recently so at least this is true for that route) you will likely notice in the less opulent neighborhoods that the pink flamingo has been replaced by the orange rusting F150 or Cutlass Cierra as the lawn ornament of choice? I would wager 80% of these decorations will never run again, and their parts value, would exceed the cost of extracting useable parts :) But just speculating here... Might be money in the pockets of some folks who could only afford the left shoe at the shoe store...

Rec'd this in a recent SEMA newsletter -Washington lawmakers are drafting a large economic stimulus package to help create jobs and rebuild infrastructure. They want to include a nationwide scrappage program which would give U.S. tax dollars to consumers who turn-in older cars to have them crushed, as a misguided attempt to spur new car sales. The lawmakers need to scrap this idea. The stimulus package is being drafted right now. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wants to introduce the bill on January 6 and have it approved by Congress by January 20, so that President Obama can sign it into law after he is inaugurated.IMHO this kind of law does little to remove old clunkers - often the clunkers are the owners only choice of transportation - they can't afford a new car even with a pttance down payment. Also, crushed cars yield no used replacement parts for those interested in them -If the lawmakers think giving someone $200 (or even $500) for a clunker that they'll use to buy a new car will likely see the auto industry in the same boat as the financial industry - where legislators pushed Freddie and Fannie to make loans without due diligence. But that's IMO - Sincerely, Larry T (74 911, 91 300D 2.5T) www.youroil.net Oil Analysis Kits & Porsche Posters/Weber parts Test Results - http://members.rennlist.com/oil/ http://www.scamfreetop10.com/1233.html._________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/themightytoe%40gmail.comSponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlineshttp://www.F1Headlines.com/
