Hey Bubba!
That drive thru the pine forests of Ar sounds great!! I'll bet there are 1000s
or more Great Drives out there and most are kept a secret so the crowds don't
ruin it. ;-)

Hey Larry: If you are impressed with the Stelvio, I would recommend Catalina
Hwy. from Tucson to the top. 22 miles, with a vertical elevation gain of over
6,000 ft. Best taken about 5-6 am on a Sunday morning. Tom Reynolds can verify,
I think.

The other one back here that the Shitbox and I love is Hwy 128 from Bismarck
to Hot Springs, AR. At over 20 miles, it winds up and down thru pine forests
and fields, it's not unlike the old Nurburgring. The only thing missing is the
castle ruins and the ghost of Peter Collins who died at the Pflanzgarten in
the1958 German GP while driving his Dino 246 for the Old Man.

BTW, I ran a set of Pirelli Stelvios on my Austin Healey 100S back in the
day. Damn fine all weather tires back then.

My son bought a book through Nat'l Geographic called "The 10 Best Of
Everything". I immediately went to the 10 Best Drives expecting to see the
Stalvio Pass somewhere - nope - not there -
    The Winners are:
    1. Pacific Coast Hwy
    2. Rte 93, Canada & US
    3. Hwy 362 Quebec
    4. Dalton Hwy Alaska
    5. Kancamagus Hwy N.H.
    6. Rt. 100 Vermont
    7. Northern Spain (Various roads)
    8. Rhine River Valley, Germany
    9. Southern Hills of Italy
    10. Ring of Kerry, Ireland

Naturally the choices are weighted toward scenic vistas, exhilarating &
romantic drives. In the selection of #9 they suggest, "Rent a Ferrari...."

Sounds like a good suggestion --)

I bet this list could come up with many more "Great Drives"
    Have a nice day -
