Stewart -

Sounds to me like one channel's phase may be inverted on the recording.

I don't know e-mix, but see if there's a separate phase/polarity control
for left and right channels. If there is, change one of them (only one)
and leave the other alone.

When you have one channel in phase (proper +/- polarity) and the other
out of phase (backwards +/- polarity), then when you play it back any
info which is common to the two channels (the majority of most music) is
cancelled out rather than reinforced.

That gives the dull, echoey sound that your sample shows.

This also could be caused by time alignment problems in the channels. If
the left channel is delayed slightly versus the right (or vice-versa)
the same cancellation effects could occur.

Good luck!

Subject: [Ferrari] (NFC) MP3 recorder help

Hi,

I am trying to mix a couple of songs for my son's school play. I have
no problem with the mixer (e-mix) and it sounds great while i am mixing
it, but when i recorded the mix into a new MP3, the quality just crap
out on me. As in this example -

I have tried various recorders and they all do the same thing. Is it a
performance issue with my laptop (Dell Latitude D630 w/2 GB of ram)? Or
something else?

Please help. Thanks in advance.
