That S class idea would be a cool fit. There was a guy that put a crate LS into
an 850CSi which I thought was a great idea. The car was so heavy, it really
woke up with 500bhp and the loss of 100lbs off the nose.

Hi Gang -
I always wondered why people got all upset when someone puts a American V8
into a foreign car.  It seems like the pefect marriage.  The foriegn component
usually provides outstanding suspension (usually) great build quality, lots of
design variety, etc while the American engine is dependable, very available,
has a huge parts availibility many engine configurations and options and cheap
for what you get.

Plus, you have the history of having created some true automobile icons - the
Cobra is the best known along with the Tiger.  People have been putting V8s in
Jags for years as well as 911s - although the radiators cause problems and you
lose the small back seat.

Now, having said all of that I'm conflicted because I know the amount of
unique engineering that is built into such engines as MB, Jag, Porsche,
Ferrari, etc.  I suspect the number of Ferrari's with American V8 is almost nil
because of the huge lose in value that would occur.

  I've considered putting a American V8 in something like a 500/560SEL Mercedes
cause there's lots around for less than $2K with "engine needs work".  MB parts
are *very* expensive so it might make sense if the engineering to make it
happen isn't too complex.

Mike, the S2000 and E36-46 BMW conversions are the ones that really cause the
death threats...and as you say, all are lighter, 2x the power, 150% fuel
economy and handle better due to the weight distribution.

Posted on the Corvette Forum... Here is a car that will piss off a
PCA club member more than a fast Corvette...
Owner said 2x the power, less weight than the original motor...
Man now I am thinking of getting a crate motor for my C6 and taking
the LS2 and putting it into an old Boxster....
