I also do all of my banking online - and I use the "auto bill payment" for everything except tax deductible payments. They're in the checkbook so it's easy to add them up for tax time. I really should buy Quicken and automate everything - and integrate the bank with TurboTax but I never seem to get it done. I have a copy of MS Money & suspect I could use that. IMO, the internet has really improved the way we manage financial activities (as long as proper security measures are followed) . I can see where my wife spent money before she gets home. But I've *learned* not to mention it as she thinks that's a bit *too* intrusive.. ;-)

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend? And congrates to Rick on the graduation of your son - !!!

Maybe they could pay you to use their card? That's better than 0%.
LOL. I use my card to keep track of what I spend where, besides the
points. I keep track of all my accounts and credit cards daily online
(takes about 10 min every morning), and I usually send payments weekly.
Just to stay ahead of their mailed bills or in case I am out of town
etc. It just takes a couple of keyboard clicks online so it's no trouble.

As far as the credit card interest, der Frau and I have 3 cards. Two
locked in the safe, and one that we use and pay off in full, the day
after we receive it in the mail. Our answer to all the calls we get
asking us if we want to lower our credit card interest is, "How can
you beat 0%?"

Some callers don't even have the common decency to say goodbye.

One of the main cards I use for my biz is a Merrill Lynch WCMA VISA. You
basically get a point for every $1 you spend. You can request gift
certificates to steakhouses, gas cards for hell, airline tickets, etc.
in exchange for points, but you can also exchange points for diamond
earrings, golf clubs, Bang & Olufsen stereo systems, etc. I think one
year for 1 million points you could get a Range Rover. All you had to
do was pay sales tax on the value. I also use marriott VISA where I can
stay free at Marriotts. 1 point for $1 spent everywhere but Marriott,
and at a Marriott resort, hotel or owned restaurant it's 3 points for
every dollar.

The credit cards still make enough $$ off transactions to afford to
pay good rewards. Changing topics, what are the best reward cards out
there? Here's what I do:

I have a Pentagon Federal Credit Union Visa card that gives 5% back on
all pay-at-the-pump purchases (no limits), and I believe 2% on
everything else. I also use an American Express for all travel or
restaurant expenses or at Costco as it gives 3% on all those
purchases, but I have to wait for a yearly check from AMEX that I then
have to bring to Costco, but you can cash it on and get green bills as
your rebate (you don't have to USE it at Costco).

Are there other good rewards options out there? I really like the pure
cash back rewards instead of travel perks and such.

Isn't paying off the balances every month AND collecting my rebates
"better" than paying cash? I get about $60 a month and never pay a
finance charge/interest.
